Who-
Hey y’all! My name is Sierra Fischer and my husband is Zach Fischer. We have two wild and free little boys who fill our days with fun, adventure and endless love. We have been blessed to own our property for 3 years now and my husband and his family grew up here in Cleveland. I’m born and raised in Lee’s Summit and when we met in Springfield Mo during college I knew we were destined for a beautiful life in the country where our babies were free to run in the fields among the animals I planned to collect! When God dropped our property into our laps we just had to jump and make it happen and living here has been an absolute dream.
Why-
For the last decade I’ve been a trained Neonatal ICU RN and I’ve absolutely loved the opportunity to care for some of the tiniest and toughest patients. It’s truly an honor and a privilege to be inside the intimate moments where families are created and expanded. However, as I raise my own babies it’s become clear to my heart that I’m being called to be home to teach and guide them in this season of life. I will be reducing my hours to the lowest level PRN status at the hospital so I can still serve the amazing families in our community as well as continue to work with the greatest mother baby and neonatal team out there, just at a much more reduced rate that balances with my own families needs.
How-
During nursing school I spent 4 wonderful years working in an accredited child care center on campus at Missouri State University. I’m familiar with implementing Developmentally Appropriate Practice, or DAP, childcare. This is the practice of using research and known successful approaches to learning and is rooted in the importance of play based learning where each child is met where they are individually and collectively as a group to tailor learning to their specific needs. During my tenure there I learned many skills that influence my practices and teachings but above all I believe learning is best achieved when children are allowed to explore, play and experience. Farmschool at Eden Ridge Farm is outfitted for just that, exploration, play and unique experiences!
Here at Eden Ridge Farm we want kiddos to run and play and learn their abilities through trial and error. Here they will do hard things; chores, exposure to weather and different physical challenges that will inspire them to think outside the box to accomplish tasks. This is a place where they can practice their motor skills and physical abilities with daily play and adventure. Science and math is all around us here on the farm and lessons are created on the spot out in the field, garden, the coop or the pen. The kiddos will work individually and collectively as a group to achieve success and at the center of it all we will learn and be reminded about how we are so loved by Jesus and blessed by our Creator to be here.
Thank you-
At Eden Ridge Farm we sincerely hope to bring your families into ours and I cherish the honor it is to play such a pivotal role in the education of your children. It’s an opportunity and a privilege to serve your families and my heart was led by the Lord to be here. Thank you for trusting us with educating and loving your children and giving us this opportunity to learn and grow together.
We can’t wait to see you all out on the farm!
-xoxo Miss Sierra, Mr. Zach and the rest of the farm family.
